Sedation Dentistry

Comfortable Dentistry for Anxious Patients

Dental anxiety affects millions of people and is one of the most common reasons patients delay or avoid dental care. At JS Family Dental, we understand that visiting the dentist can feel stressful. Sedation dentistry allows you to receive the dental treatment you need while feeling calm, relaxed, and comfortable throughout the procedure.

Whether you experience general nervousness, have a strong gag reflex, fear needles, or need to undergo a lengthy procedure, sedation can help make your visit easier. Our sedation options are safe, well-established, and administered by experienced dental professionals.

Our Sedation Options

We offer two types of sedation at our McKinney office. Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is an extremely safe mild sedative inhaled through a small mask over your nose. It takes effect within minutes, helps you feel relaxed and at ease, and wears off almost immediately after the mask is removed. You remain fully conscious and can drive yourself home after your appointment.

For patients who need deeper relaxation, we offer Oral Sedation using Halcion (Triazolam). This medication is taken before your appointment and produces a state of deep calm while you remain conscious. You will feel drowsy and may not remember much of the procedure afterward. Because oral sedation takes longer to wear off, you will need someone to drive you to and from the appointment.

Is Sedation Right for You?

Sedation dentistry is available for adult patients. Children do not qualify for sedation in our office. If you have been putting off dental work due to anxiety or fear, sedation may be the solution that helps you get the care you need. Talk to our team about which option is best for your situation. Anxiety-Free Visits

Sedation helps you feel calm and relaxed from start to finish. Many patients say their sedated visits were the most comfortable dental experience they have had.

Safe and Proven

Both nitrous oxide and oral sedation have long safety records. Our team monitors you throughout the procedure to ensure your comfort and well-being.
